    Abstract: The patent was developed by Tesla in cooperation with Dalhousie University of Canada. By using new electrolyte additives, the service life of lithium batteries is extended. Recently, Tesla has published a patent claiming that its battery life has been extended to 1.6 million kilometers, which has attracted the attention of a large number of people in the power battery industry. This new type of electrolyte additive is roughly MDO and PDO. The lithium battery prepared is an NMC / graphite pouch battery with high temperature storage and long-term cycling performance. The specific process is that MDO and PDO form an SEI layer on the surface of the graphite electrode, and the prepared battery has better performance than a battery containing VC. At the same time, in the long-term cycle test, the performance of the battery prepared by 2% PDO / 1% DTD and 2% PDO / 1% LFO is also better than that of the battery containing VC. The typical feature of the patent is that when the battery electrolyte additive (lithium salt) of the invention is combined with a non-aqueous solution, the service life and performance of the battery system can be greatly improved. Its battery pack can maintain 95% life after 1000 discharge cycles. Corresponding to lithium batteries without additives, only 25% life. After another 3000 discharge cycles, batteries using additives can still maintain 90% of their life. Tesla also issued a statement saying: "The electrolyte additive method is effective and can extend the life and performance of lithium ion batteries. In recent years, a lot of research has developed such electrolyte additives, such as vinylene carbonate (VC) , Fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC), propadiene-l-3-sultone (PES), ethylene sulfate (DTD), and lithium difluorophosphate (LFO). " This shows that Tesla has a deep scientific research and technical investment in the research of electrolyte additives. All in all, there are at least two implications of Tesley's electrolyte patent. First, the improvement of battery performance can completely seek a breakthrough from the source. For example, attention is paid to the research and improvement of electrolytes, separators, and cathode and anode electrode materials, so as to achieve further improvements and breakthroughs in battery performance. Second, it is urgent to build a car safety production system. Domestic battery companies must ensure that the quality error after the battery leaves the factory is very small and the standardization is extremely high.
