Electric bicycle production in October increased by 30% year-on-year
On December 9, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Operation of the Bicycle Industry from January to October 2020". In the first October, the output of electric bicycles was 25.48 million, a year-on-year increase of 33.4%. Among them, the monthly output of electric bicycles in October was 2.499 million, a year-on-year increase of 29.9%.
In terms of benefits, the operating income of electric bicycles was 75.99 billion yuan, an increase of 26.9% year-on-year, and the total profit realized was 3 billion yuan, an increase of 30.5%.
Increased demand on the To B side such as shared bicycles and takeaways has boosted overall sales. Since April, the domestic electric bicycle market has recovered rapidly and started a year-on-year growth rate of 50% for 6 consecutive months.
The increase in the output of electric bicycles releases the corresponding demand for lithium batteries, especially the high concentration of electric bicycle application fields such as ToB end, which is more suitable for the promotion of battery swap mode, and further increases the demand for lithium batteries.
It is expected that with the emergence of the replacement wave after the transition period of the new national standard and the rapid development of superimposed sharing/replacement, the shipment of bicycle lithium battery will increase to 8.45GWh in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 55%; In 2021, the penetration rate of lithium batteries will further increase, exceeding 30%.
