Foreign media reported that Tesla has agreed to acquire German car battery manufacturer ATW Automation, which is a subsidiary of Canada's ATS automation tool system and a battery module supplier for BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

And Tesla's acquisition of ATW Automation this time may be a preparation for its production of power batteries in Germany.

Tesla also clearly announced that it will use lower-cost lithium iron phosphate batteries, and CATL will officially supply and install machines within this year.

In addition to acquiring German battery assembly company ATW Automation, Tesla also previously acquired dry electrode technology company Maxwell and Canadian battery manufacturing equipment and engineering technology company "Hibar Systems", and signed procurement contracts with a number of Chinese equipment companies.

In addition to purchasing battery equipment, Tesla is also actively stocking raw materials for the production of lithium batteries, locking up upstream cobalt, NMC raw materials.
