How does CATL sell commercial vehicle batteries in Europe?
According to foreign media news, CATL recently signed a European-wide partnership agreement with German battery system manufacturer HOPPECKE.
According to the agreement, HOPPECKE will represent CATL to be responsible for lithium battery testing, repairing and replacing lithium-ion batteries installed in electric vehicles, initially focusing on vans and buses.
Headquartered in Sauerland, Germany, HOPPECKE is one of the largest providers of service solutions for lead-acid, FNC and lithium-ion energy storage systems.
In April 2020, CATL reached an agreement with the German company Quantron AG, and Quantron was authorized to supply batteries in Europe as a CATL distributor. The standardized lithium iron phosphate-based CTP battery solution of CATL will be used. At the same time, tailor-made battery solutions will be based on NMC battery components of the CATL to meet customer needs, mass production and then delivery.
Currently, CATL is rapidly advancing its business in the European passenger car market. It has successively signed battery cooperation agreements with international commercial vehicles and buses such as Dutch VDL Bus & Coach, Daimler Truck Bus and Volkswagen (Latin America) Truck Bus Company.
At the same time, CATL's cooperation in the field of international passenger vehicles has also achieved frequent results. CATL has reached cooperation with top international car companies such as Tesla, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, Jaguar Land Rover, Peugeot Citroen, Daimler Truck and Bus on power batteries. And this month officially supplied Tesla's domestic Model 3.
